Where is the vacation rental located on Vancouver Island?
Our vacation rental is between Victoria and Duncan on Shawnigan Lake in the Cowichan Valley.
How many people does the rental accommodate?
Our rental can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests.
What amenities are included?
The rental includes wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, a lower kitchenette, a washer and dryer, a fireplace, a hot tub and air conditioning (and heat). We aim to provide everything you need for a relaxing stay.
Are pets allowed?
We allow well-behaved and loved pets with an additional fee and ask that you clean up after them. Pets can not be unattended in the house.
How close is the nearest beach/town/attraction?
The lake is your main attraction — you can’t miss it. You are a short drive to the village center and can venture further into the Cowichan Vlley. Check out our local guide for more things to do.
What's the check-in and check-out time?
Check-in is at 3 p.m., and check-out is by 11 a.m.
Is parking available?
Yes, we offer free on-site parking for up to two vehicles.
How do I make a reservation?
You can book through our website or contact us directly.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations made between days in advance will incur a 50% charge.
Are there any additional fees?
Yes, there is a cleaning fee of $150 and a pet fee of $50 if you bring your little creature. We require a $500 security deposit, which will be returned to you upon inspection after check-out, provided there are no damages.
Is the vacation rental kid-friendly?
We are a family-first property; however, we don’t provide amenities such as a crib, high chair, and safety gates.
Can I rent for an extended period?
Yes, we offer discounts for extended stays. However, availability in the summer is limited to two weeks.
How is the cell phone reception and internet connectivity?
Cell phone reception suits most major carriers just like you are in the city. We also offer free high-speed Wi-Fi for guests. There is no landline in the cottage.
Are there any nearby restaurants or grocery stores?
Yes, several restaurants/grocery stores are located within the village. However, for groceries, the choices are more limited than you may need. We recommend you stock up on your favourites on the way. Mill Bay is 20 minutes away and will have everything you need.
Is smoking allowed?
Smoking is prohibited inside the property or on any decks/dock.
What activities can I do in the area?
Vancouver Island offers many activities like hiking, fishing, whale watching, and exploring local cultural sites. We have a guidebook in the rental with recommendations.
How do we access the rental?
We use a keyless entry system. You'll be provided with a unique code before your arrival.
Do you provide linens and towels?
Yes, we provide all bed linens and towels for our guests. Feel free to bring more.
Who can I contact if I have any issues during my stay?
Of course, we are your hosts. You can reach us anytime and will be given a direct number before arrival.
